"Commitment to doing things right, grows an enterprise..." |
From Out Of Nowhere...Sage Carli can be found in his office talking to customers, signing checks and looking at email. He can be found at his vendors office talking about products, engineering, business philosophy and the market. He can be found under a customer's truck in the parking lot finding the next innovation target. He can be found sitting in the passenger seat of latest Megacab build, flying 6 feet over the earth. You can always find him after business hours building a race truck or improving the new 3,500 square foot shop that provides 3 bays to meet the new production demand. No matter where you find Sage, there's one common denominator... Being the best, offering his market better solutions, deeper thinking and more attention to detail than the rest. It doesn't take a forensic investigation to see the changes in the market that have taken place in just the last 15 or so months. Recap the last year and see for yourself where this is going.
Sage builds an 07 Megacab with his Advanced Dominator 3.0 - Stop right here and ask yourself who had a Dodge Ram 3.0 inch suspension system before him? The answer is simple. Nobody. Not only was this system developed, but it was put through months of valve profile refinement before being sold to a single customer. The pre-production testing consisted of handling on freeways, in parking lots and everything in between your zip code and San Felipe. Not a bad year... However, this build included hydro-pneumatic bump stops on the front. Anyone else bolting on hydraulic bumps on a Dodge Ram? Nope. The build didn't stop there. Next up was a .250 wall chromo tube, fully boxed, front axle truss. It was then the cameras were packed up for a day shooting and testing this monster... And nobody expected the limits to be so high... Not even Sage. We beat his system until safety was an issue, then went a little further.
A month or so passes and a new first to market, only-available-here product is set free... The Tower Strut Brace. A pretty handy component which played a fat role in Carli Suspension, Inc being invited and welcomed into the Baldwin Racing family, an intelligent race enterprise that entrusted their entire chase fleet to Sage. But I'm getting ahead of myself, before the Baldwin's was Diesel Power Magazine showcasing the Advanced Dominator 3.0 in print. There isn't another Dodge Ram 3.0 system in print before then. Maybe on a drawing table or bar napkin somewhere in Ensenada... But nobody else pulled it off before the Dominator 3.0 line. And finally, a signature demonstration of the Carli Suspension corporate identity is dropped into our hands... Long Travel Air Bags - a first-to-market, first to concept... Hell, there isn't anything but "first" surrounding this whole thing. But Sage wouldn't allow his trucks to be ignored. He knows we all got a Dodge HD for a reason and adding lighter rate leafs in the rear meant that a small percentage of the load capacity was compromised. So what does he do? He makes it unlimited. Well, not limited by the suspension system, that is. Only now do you have more than OEM load capacity married to long travel suspension. I'll start a new paragraph since we're only half way through the first year of product launches.
What would front bump stops be without the rear? August of 2007, a bolt-on hydro-pneumatic bump kit for the Dodge Ram is available. Nobody else even got the front done and Sage covered all four courners and their in production, on trucks, getting jumped, going into magazines and starring in fresh internet videos. Moving right along into this month, Sage was published in a Canadian newspaper who interviewed him on tuning suspension and he got to explain his approach to his customer market. Continuing, and still not even getting out of September, the first truck to cross the 2007 SCORE Baja 1000 finish line is a Carli Dodge. This truck was assigned route plotting detail with DirtNewz.com's Tim 'Desert Bull' Sanchez behind the wheel. A successful trip for all parties and not a single issue with Sage's set up. But this wasn't a race, this was the race course, all the way down and all the way back up... checking the list twice. Thousands of miles of the anniversary SCORE Baja 1000 race course, with faultless performance. All of this and finally here in the third week of September we do the unthinkable... We take a daily driver 2007 Dodge 2500 HD Megacab and sky it for the camera... then drive it to the nearest taco stand before a 2 hour drive home. Not an issue came of it. I don't know about any of you out there, but having a customer who went to Chrysler and spent a nice chunk of change, then to Banks Engineering and spent some more, finally making it to Carli Suspension where another transaction resulted in a substantial financial investment into what's driven to work and do what we did to it? This isn't a stock full race truck, there isn't a roll cage and that is CT McDonald, not a professional driver... If that doesn't demonstrate confidence in his products and engineering philosophy, I don't know what does.
This is a pretty interesting year for our community of Dodge Ram HD owners. Sage is now outfitted with 3 times the shop and twice the office space. Yes, Carli Suspension, Inc is an actual business, you can drive right up to the shop door, shake hands with the guys, check out the race truck and see what's new - nothing secret, no myth, no legend... just the real deal. After being witness to the last year, the growth, the progress, the awareness and response from the market and its players... I can't wait to see what happens next. We'll just have to have a little patience and see. But rest assured, its going to be a repetitive cycle. You're going to see things happening here, first... elsewhere second. You'll be served as an intelligent customer who doesn't want to sacrifice comfort for ego. You will be offered a solution based on your needs, not corporate overhead, given what's right for you, even if it has to be built special. You will get the best. Cost doesn't own the engineering program, quality does. Cost owns the race program... That's why you haven't seen a Carli Dodge cross a SCORE finish line, in a race, until 2008. Sage's systems have been engineered in the real world for the rest of us who aren't shoving our trucks across Loreto silt beds, but don't let that detour you. The race truck is coming and in signature Sage Carli style... Its going to be like nothing you've seen before and anything else will have to settle for being 2nd. There's a lot more happening. All I did was summarize the last year. Sage already has his eye on the next Stay tuned...
