First Truck Through The 2007 SCORE Baja 1000... A Carli Dodge

The 2007 SCORE Baja 1000 race course is getting pre-run and plotted right now... the truck doing the job is a Carli Dodge. Sent via satellite to the Carli Suspension, Inc office is real-time feedback on the products in use.

Cuidad Constitucion, Baja Sur, California (September 18, 2007) The legacy of off road racing in Baja spans over four decades of adventure, but off road truck travels throughout the Baja Peninsula began early in the 19th Century. Fastforward to 2007 and the upcoming SCORE Tecate Baja 1000 race. The longest point-to-point race in the world will celebrate its 40th anniversary in 2007 and preparations have been well underway since the beginning of the year.

The task of plotting and creating an off road race is daunting to say the least, but to do it on foreign soil in a region well-known for remote and barren terrain is another thing. The team of adventure seeking individuals that come together to conquer this task is unique. Made up of many different backgrounds with specialties ranging from computer engineers to corporate executives. The task at hand in 2007 is to craft a challenging race course that will test the most sophisticated off road racer in the world and test him, his team and his equipment against the best racers and most difficult land in the world.

It's the SCORE Baja 1000! The toughest off road race in North America.

With over 40 years of experience seeking adventure around the Baja Peninsula, this man is well-renown on the lonely long dirt roads of Baja. Driving what many believe to be one hell of a tough truck, a Dodge Ram Cummins Diesel 4WD, he's been spotted in and around places that many have said were unconquerable. They refer to him as the "Desert Bull", and officially he's known to the industry as Tim Sanchez.

"My current off road adventure truck is a 1999 Dodge Ram 4WD Cummins. Built for superb reliability and utilizing the nearly-indestructible Cummins Diesel power plant, I've taken extreme measures to make this one hell of a reliable off road machine. The man behind the build is the one and only, Sage Carli. Utilizing 3.0" FOX Racing Shox with Carli Suspension components, ATS Diesel Performance components and the toughest tire in the business, BFGoodrich Tires, we've been bombing Baja as the real deal for a very long time. Working closely with SCORE and BFGoodrich Tires, we were fortunate to get the call this year to help put together the 2007 SCORE Baja 1000."

Tackling Baja is not easy. Building a vehicle to survive Baja is another.

Sage's Input

"Tim came to me and said he wanted to bullet-proof his truck for Baja off road travel. The first phase seemed straight forward and after his first trip he walked in my shop and threw a $100 dollar bottle of red Loc-Tite at me and walked away. I scratched my head for a week until he brought the truck in one late afternoon and gave me the story about losing his steering near the old sawmill on El Compadre Trail outside of Tecate. I looked at the damage and then looked at him and said, "We have to build this truck up from scratch and get it to survive the beating you give it." I honestly don't know anybody that abuses a truck more than Tim. In fact, I've been with him on trips in Baja and he's simply not right," said Sage Carli - President of Carli Suspension.

PRERUN UPDATE- All good with the truck and the suspension is dialed to the extreme...I'm absolutely bombing my truck to the extreme...and it's Rockin! More to follow..here's some photos - Later.
