Creating the Extreme Duty Lower Ball Joint for Dodge Ram Trucks

The Carli R&D process was intensified during the development of our lower ball joints, and the end result - a backed for life product. Our customers are the beneficiaries of aerospace engineering, CNC precision and a couple of outside processes. The design was scrutinized, the construction underwent two revisions for installation and assembly improvements and the final fitment ends with a match machining process. Before these ball joints are put together, a machinist joins the assembly and hand checks the fitment, making two-thousandths of an inch corrections - until it's right. Every part is checked after each step in the construction process.

Just how tough are are Carli Lower Ball Joints?

We tried to kill one by removing the o-ring seal, loosening the cap screws and running it as hard as we could. We simulated a seal failure with exposure to on and off-road environments. We exaggerated this with some desert trips, water crossings and didn't bother to add fresh lube. Basically, we tried to make it fail. There wasn't any feedback or indication of a decline in the performance when we removed the ball joint. On the outside it looked like somebody just didn't take care of it at all, on the inside after we wiped the crud off of it, showed a perfect mirror finish on the weight bearing surfaces. There's not a scratch on it.
